Nothing is really known of Vahn from his childhood or much of his adolesence. Vahn's first known act was the murder of his famous composer cousin, Louis De Demise. His cousin always worried about his looks and music, Vahn drowned him in a river and watched his body sail down the stream. When asked what had become of his cousin, Vahn simply said he chose a life of obscurity. For the fame of the world was nothing compared to the fame within one's family. Vahn and his sister Honor spent a large part of their life together. The only person who knows more about Vahn then himself would be her. Vahn set out against making a name for himself as the vizier for Lord Rankam a nobleman from Cersia in the lands of the east. There he advised the lord on various things taking care of the lord's day to day business. One day the lord introduced Vahn to his virign seeress. He explained it was her virginity that gave her the power of sight. From that moment on Vahn was obsessed with her. One the eve of a great war in the lord's lands, months of swooing gave Vahn the lady's bedchambers.

When the lord asked her for a vision she explained everything to him. Rankam had the seeress executed imediately and ordered his men to find Vahn. However they never did, as well the armies marching against Rankam succeeded in their attack on him and had his head placed on a pike. The head went missing late that night and was soon found with a letter of resignation from Vahn, stuff in it's mouth. In the lands twenty miles from Cersia a prince and princess of two waring kingdoms fought a ill fated love. Until a wise priest happened upon the couple in one of their secret meetings in a nearby sunflower field. They explained their situation to Vahn (who played the part of the priest) he told them he would help them be together forever. After helping the two fake their own deaths and blame it on a third kingdom it was so.

Vahn went to the prince and princess's kingdoms getting the two kingdoms to ally together under one banner. The purpose? to destroy the third kingdom which was innocent of the crime. After doing so Vahn told the two kings of a lord and lady who were powerful allies to the third kingdom. He told them how they were fleeing the united kingdom's wraith and would be headed through shepard's wood. The kings set up an ambush pelting the carrige which the two nobles rode in. When they dragged the bodies out they were shocked to find the prince and princess dead from multiple arrow wounds. The two kingdoms declared war on one another again and fell into ruin. Vahn was never found when this happened nor was he worried.

A noble lord (Abigale Windsor) was in love with another noble lord's wife, Vahn was Abigale's long time friend. So Vahn secretly plotted against the other noble lord getting him killed in battle in far away lands finally. This left Abigale's lady fair free to be wed without controversy. Vahn seemed to become distant at this time, before finally showing interest in the couple's love affair. Vahn set up events to play out, which they did, to where Abigale killed his lady love out of jealous rage. Abigale was arrested and charged with murder. In his cell he heard a voice from the window, it was his good friend Vahn. Vahn explained how he had set Abigale up and bid him a fond fair well. Abigale hung himself within his cell that night out of madness and grief. Vahn left these lands to return home where his sister awaited him. His exploits are a mystery during this time, until he resurfaced in Velusia.

Honor had began to play a game with the noble Vincent Blackthorne and Vahn watched from afar. However one day Honor seemed to have vanished without a trace as did the lord Vincent. Vahn heard rumors that the Blackthornes had killed her. Because of this Vahn set up a plan against them and failed, he surrendered and chose to serve the Blackthornes. He worked his way in their soceity finally making the title of Count. He was given land and his own estate along with the job to watch over the city of Demise. Which at one time had been his father's kingdom before the Blackthornes had defeated him and the family Deceit. Vahn only served them for his sister was hard as nails, a tough nut to crack. If they had indeed defeated her in her own game then they were worthy enough to serve. However he found out Honor was not dead, but alive still this made Vahn wage a new war against the Blackthornes.

He saved King Reese's son Shamus from kidnappers, Shamus was reported as saying, " the cold grey look in that man's eyes made me think of nothingness and lifeless, as though something dark and sinister lurked behind the grey reflection." Vahn was rewarded for saving the king's son and became a most trusted friend. He stayed in the service of the Blackthornes for seven years before striking when they were weak. Thanks to his help a tyrant known as Mythocles cast the Blackthornes out of their own home. Vahn then helped Mythocles secure an alliance with the Darkthornes. The Darkthornes told Mythocles of some of Vahn's exploits they come to know about somehow. Mythocles tricked Vahn into becoming lost in the inbetween of the veil. Thankfully dear old sis continued to search for Vahn and finally found him freeing him from the mirror.
