Pallid lids fell ever so softly, engulfing him in his darkness for what was an eternity to him. He lingered in this darkness, feeling the snow flakes gracing his hair, caressing his skin, latching to his eyelashes. It was but to him a cool blanket to take him away from it all. Take him away from the dread, the misery of this world that he had once known... He let the eye lids lift him from his darkness to look over the snow covered mountains, where trees were graced with the presence of the snow, blessed with the purity of what it all meant to him.
But above it all, the sound is what held him captivated. The sound of utter silence from the world, where neither war, nor hate was waged on one another. Wasn't that the most blissful thing one could have hoped for? A utopia to raise ones family in, where laughter and love was the only thing to come from one's lips? Surely it was heaven to be away from it all. He had never been one to conform to the ways of society and civilization, where one could so easily be deterred towards the darkness, towards the taint of evil. Evil... Did a concept of such a thing ever exist in such a place as this?
Muscles on his back and neck tensed as he glanced over his shoulder. His wife was walking up behind him. A beauty like no other in his eyes, dark long locks of hair going down to nearly her waist, while she wore a simple royal blue dress that would hug to her curves, accent the beauty of her skin color, and only radiate her immaculate beauty even more. Her steps were light, leaving their traces from the cottage towards her husband, draping her arms around his shoulders as she kissed him on the ear. Her whisper into his ear was warm and inviting above all.
"Come inside. Its cold and your son wants to play."
A smile would have graced his lips oh so willingly, showing teeth white enough to match the snow, pivoting on his feet to turn around and face his wife. He wasted no time in sweeping up his wife into his arms and running towards the cabin, where he could see the brightly lit flames crackling with warmth, and promise of a warm tomorrow morning. He could hear the voice of his son calling out to him, wanting to show him a trick he had learned. But before he could even grace the footsteps to the cabin, a rupturous boom had caught his attention. And before him all, his veil would fall away.
Here there was no snow... Here there was no breeze to caress his skin. There was but the darkness, and the silence. His wife was nowhere to be found and there was no son for him to hold. He was alone with nothing but his thoughts and dreams. Filth clung to his form, as did an almost unbearable stench. His hair was long, his beard matching it, reminding him that he hadnt seen the daylight in ages, and now everything he thought he would see was a dream. And the fact of the matter was true.. It was cold.
He hugged himself in his desperation, looking for a warmth of another body that would never be found here. Crystal tears would line his face, tracing down boney cheeks, as his body had become frail and weak over the years..His sobs would persist, and he would cry for them all, till the day he died he would cry, but never succumb to his own darkness. The noise above from the throne room and all was but deaf to his ears, as he tried to speak for the first time in years. The whispers were all inaudible, even to himself. he had to find the strength to scream just once more.. If not for himself, then for the family he had lost.
And in his meager attempts, his voice managed to utter one word in a voice that could have been considered normal. "Katherine..."
The memory of his wife now plagued his mind, as did that of his other family. And above all, that of his most precious friend... His friend was here? Was that it? After so many years of being locked away beneath the throne room, his friend was here to save him? That had to be it.
"Reese..." The word became softly apparent as a whisper, and in his darkness, he found his hope. "Reese!" The voice became louder now, as he fought against the chains to try and stand, flailing against them and against the jagged stone walls. He would claw at the stones as he had so many times before, but again, he was finding himself too weak from the ages, and he had but only one utter scream left to him, so he had to give it his all, else he would fail against the odds.
"REESE!"
His voice cracked with the scream, but it was perhaps louder than any human could have uttered in such a decrepid form, or any form for that matter. The voice would reverbriate off the walls, filled with his anguish, his love, his tears, and above all, his hope. The cry would hold for no longer then five seconds, as he had used what he could of his remaining strength to scream, and now all he could find himself doing in fruitless attempts, was falling backwards onto his back... Unconscious to the world around him, but oh so aware to the world within....
